Organic Acids
The Polyarc® System:
Making Organic Acid Analysis Easy
Organic acids are used in the production of items we use every day – from cleaners and detergents to pharmaceuticals to food products like vinegar. While these chemicals are prevalent, their analysis can be challenging due to difficulties with FID sensitivity. Many of the smaller organic acids, like formic acid or acetic acid, have an abysmal FID signal, making it difficult to provide accurate quantification. The FID is a great detector for organic species due to its robustness and large linear dynamic range. By adding the Polyarc system to the FID, the analysis of organic acids becomes much simpler because they’re first converted to methane prior to being detected.
